VERSE:
James 2:10–For whomever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.
TRUTH:
This verse goes directly against one very popular idea that many people have. Often, you will hear people talk about how they’re a pretty good person and they think they’ve done enough good things to get them to heaven. This verse indicates that it’s not about doing most things right, it’s about doing EVERYTHING right. If we stumble at just one spot; if we sin just one time, then we are guilty of breaking the entire law. We must realize that if we are comparing ourselves to the law, we will never be good enough or righteous enough or perfect enough. Only through the saving grace and mercy of Jesus Christ, who was perfect in all areas, do we have a hope of salvation and a hope of being able to live in victory. Have we recognized our need and accepted His grace through Jesus Christ?
RESPONSE:
Father, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I could never keep all the law, whether the 10 commandments or even the law of love. I need You to live through me. I have accepted Your gift of grace and I ask that You live Your love through me today.
