Journey Through Ephesians, #22

Different purposes and different responsibilities. We are each made to have different roles and responsibilities in relationships. Read Ephesians 5:22-24.

Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.

While there are many people who read these verses and get upset or feel that these don’t fully explain the role of women, it’s important to remember that these are part of scripture. As women, we have a responsibility to love our husbands and support our husbands and help build them up to be the type of leaders in the home and in the church that they need to be.

Our responsibilities are not any less, but they are different then the responsibilities of a man. We must recognize that God has a role and a place for each one of us in our relationships. Are we trusting him through our relationships and are we being obedient to what he has for us in those relationships?
