2 Kings 24:13–As the Lord had declared, Nebuchadnezzar removed the treasures from the temple of the Lord and from the royal palace, and cut up the gold articles that Solomon king of Israel had made for the temple of the Lord.
The phrase, “As the Lord declared” is such a strong and, in this case, sad phrase. The people had been given warning. They knew it was coming. They had been warned, yet they did not repent and they did not change. As a result, they lost everything, just as the Lord had said they would. God keeps His promises, both the promises of love and forgiveness and the promises of judgment and condemnation. The question becomes, which are we going to be receiving? The answer will depend only on the Savior Jesus Christ and our relationship to Him.
Father, thank You that You are a God who keeps His word. I know that I can trust You to do all that You have said You would do and I know that You are going to be trustworthy. I will rest in Your promises, knowing that You will fulfill each and every one in the right timing. Thank You for being a God that is trustworthy and keeps His promises.
