Read 2 Kings chapter 25

2 Kings 25:9–He set fire to the temple of the Lord, the royal palace and all the houses of Jerusalem. Every important building he burned down.

The people of Judah were experiencing the judgment that had been foretold by their prophets. The Babylonians came in and destroyed everything. They took everything valuable and the burned anything that was left. When we fail to follow and obey God, there are consequences for that decision. For some people who reject Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, they will also experience the fire of God’s judgment. We must recognize that God is a holy and righteous God who cannot be in the presence of sin. Have you accepted Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on our behalf to stand in your place and take the judgment that you are owed? Or will we experience the fire of God’s judgment.

Father, I pray that this will be a warning to all people that Your judgment is coming. We may not know exactly when, but we do know what You are expecting, holiness. Father, I pray that each and every person will have an opportunity to choose for themselves whether they will accept Your gift of forgiveness or not and that you will use me to help people know and choose You.
