No Distractions, Day 19

What are you planting? Read Galatians 6:7-10.

I heard a story once about a gardener who one year just decided to mix all of their seeds together and plant them that way. It turned out to be a disaster because certain plants require more space than others. Some plants are growing underground. Others are sprawling across the top. Everything got jumbled together and nothing produced vegetables the way it should have produced.

Sometimes, that’s how we go about our lives. We’re planting, but we’re not doing it with intentionality, and so what we end up harvesting is just a group of haphazard results with no direction. If we are planting, we want to be intentional about what we plant, where we plant, and how we take care of our planting. We need to make sure that we are focused on planting the seeds that are going to bring about a harvest that is glorifying to God.

As scripture says, if we’re planting the things of the spirit, we will harvest the things of the spirit. But if we’re planting the things of the flesh, that’s exactly what we will harvest. We don’t want to mix up the things that we’re planting. We want to be sure that we are focusing on planting exactly what God has and that we are intentionally about it.
