ADHD Gospel, Day 24

Responsibility. Read Mark 6:30-44.

It’s an iconic story and many people may not know much about the Bible, but will have heard that at one point Jesus fed a lot of people with five loaves of bread and two fish.

As we read this account from Mark’s perspective, we see just how much Jesus puts the responsibility on the disciples. They were the ones responsible for finding something to eat. Jesus told his disciples that they were responsible for feeding the people. All of a sudden, their responsibility felt so overwhelming, and they realized that they could not possibly do what God asked them to do. However, they found that they could, through Jesus.

Jesus accomplished the impossible. God wants us to understand that we have a responsibility for the people around us. We are responsible for sharing with them. We are responsible for reaching out to them. Our responsibility is part of what God has committed us to do, and God will never ask us to do something that he will not provide for us to be able to do.

Are we focused on the responsibility that God has given us in our lives? Are we seeking to bring what we have to God so that he can use it to accomplish exactly what he wants to do? That is the only way we can fulfill our responsibilities. We need Jesus.
