Devotional – February 7, 2012

VERSE:
Job 22:23–If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored; if you remove unrighteousness far from your tent.

TRUTH:
Job’s friend Eliphaz is speaking again. His words do have some truth to them, but again they do not apply to Job or his situation. When we are with people who are going through difficult times, simply telling them statements without really understanding their situation is not helpful. We need to be patient and listen to what they say, then trust God to give us the words that they need to hear.

RESPONSE:
Lord, I pray that while I am with people who are hurting that I may give them Your words, not just words about You. Help me to be sensitive to Your leading.
