Book of Revival, Day 23 What have you promised God? Read Deuteronomy chapter 23. People will make promises to God every day. It’s not that uncommon for people to swear to do something for God in the midst of some difficulty or some trial. If only God will bring them through this, then they will do something for God. God remembers and knows what we have committed to him and we are responsible for fulfilling our vows to God. What have we promised to God? What have we left unfulfilled? What do we need to go back and focus on to complete? We are to fulfill our vows to Lord.

Book of Revival, Day 22 We are responsible for more than just our things. Read Deuteronomy chapter 22. While we may think that we are only responsible for the things that belong to us, this verse and this chapter indicate otherwise. We are responsible to take care of the things of the people around us as well. If we see something that isn’t the way it should be, then we are honor-bound to act on it. How can we better support the people around us?

Book of Revival, Day 21 Specific instructions. Read Deuteronomy chapter 31. As Moses continues to write, we see several very specific instructions that the people of Israel were to follow in specific circumstances. The biggest thing that I see looking through here is that God is seeking to help the people be able to understand exactly what does it mean to be holy. What does it mean to be pure? What does it mean to truly follow God? As the people are seeking to follow these instructions, they cannot help but understand the holiness of God compared to the sinfulness of themselves. Book of Revival, Day 20 God fights our battles. Read Deuteronomy chapter 20. Moses reminds the people of the battles that they will be fighting. They have a land that they are to go in and conquer and they will experience numerous battles. Still, God wants to remind all of them that it does not matter what their enemy has or their resources or the numbers in their armies. God is greater than all of that. As the people are establishing in themselves and setting up government, they need to set up rules for government because God understands the people will struggle to administer laws and Justice and they will need his guidance. So, God establishes rules for how they are to determine who is telling the truth and who is not. This principle of multiple witnesses is carried throughout the remainder of scripture. Book of Revival, Day 18 How to determine a real prophet from a false one. Read Deuteronomy chapter 18. As Moses continues to share with the people, he covers the prophets. All the people in the land who followed false gods also had false prophets. So, how do you tell them apart? Simple, if they prophecy something that doesn’t come true, they should be put to death. Book of Revival, Day 17 Write your own copy. Read Deuteronomy chapter 17. God knew that one day the people would want a king. God understood more about them than they understood about themselves. Here, God puts into place some requirements for what the king should do. Interestingly, one of those requirements is that the king should write his own copy of the law. Part of the king’s responsibility in leading the people is to know and understand the law of God. These holidays are still in celebration among these people today. Interestingly, Moses explains that the people were not to celebrate these holidays by coming to the temple empty-handed. How do we handle owing people money, and having people owe us money? This verse really stands out to me because of the phrase open handed. Book of Revival, Day 14 A giving heart. Read Deuteronomy chapter 14. As Moses starts to speak about all the sacrifice requirements, we see this reminder that the people are to be sure to tithe. They are responsible for setting aside what is God’s and ensuring they give it to him. Do we set aside and give to God what is God’s? Do we recognize his ownership of everything that we have? He is the reason we have anything and he hs deserving of it all.
