VERSE: Genesis 18:32–Then he said ‘Oh that my Lord not be angry and I shall speak only this once: Suppose ten are found there?’ Then He said ‘I will not destroy it on account of the ten.’ TRUTH: God told Abraham about the destruction that was coming and Abraham prayed. Abraham begged God to spare the city if He could find 10 righteous people. Do we pray as fervently for the lost? RESPONSE: Lord, help me to seek out and pray for people as fervently as Abraham did.

VERSE: Genesis 17:6–I will make you exceedingly fruitful and I will make nations of you and kings will come from you. TRUTH: God promised to make Abraham fruitful. Only God can provide the blessings that are worthwhile. God gave Abraham what only God could provide. Do we trust God to provide for us? RESPONSE: God, thank You for providing for me and I pray that You will continue to be glorified in my life as you were in Abraham’s.

VERSE: Genesis 16:2–So Sarai said to Abram, ‘Now behold the Lord has prevented me from bearing children. Please go in to my maid; perhaps I will obtain children through her.’ TRUTH: They had received God’s promise, but they went about trying to fulfill it on their own. How many times have we jumped ahead of God with our own plans? RESPONSE: Lord, thank You for providing everything You promise. Help me to learn to wait and not get ahead of You and Your plan. Tweet

VERSE: Genesis 15:6–Then he believed in the Lord; and He reckoned it to him as righteousness. TRUTH: Abram was told some amazing things. He would have a son in his old age. His descendants would outnumber the stars. Yet, Abram chose to believe the Lord and because of it, the Lord calls him ‘righteous.’ Do we believe what the Lord tells us through His word? Are we ‘righteous?’ RESPONSE: Lord, I pray that You will help me to trust in You regardless of the circumstance. Please help me to be righteous.

VERSE: Genesis 14:23–that I will not take a thread or a sandal that is yours, for fear you would say, ‘I have made Abram rich.’ TRUTH: Abram had just won a battle and saved the king of Sodom and his nephew Lot. Now the king wanted to reward Abram. However, Abram refused to accept any rewards. He wanted to be sure that there was never any doubt about why he did what he did. Abram was following God and he didn’t want people to think that he was in the employ of someone else. Do we guard our motivations? Do people know and recognize that the only motivation for us…

VERSE: Genesis 13:8–So Abram said to Lot, “Please let there be no strife between you and me, nor between your herdsmen and my herdsmen, for we are brothers.” TRUTH: Abram desired peace and harmony between him and his family. He was willing to sacrifice the first and best choice of the available land to be able to achieve this. Do we want peace? What are we willing to sacrifice to achieve it?” RESPONSE: Lord, my desire is for there to be peace in all situations. Help me know what and when to sacrifice to be able to achieve it.

VERSE: Genesis 12:3–And I will bless those who bless you and the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed. TRUTH: What an amazing promise to Abram! Through him came Jesus and all the nations of the earth will be blessed by Jesus. Are we sharing Jesus with all the nations? Do we have a heart to see others come to know Jesus? Only through Jesus are we blessed and those who don’t know Him will be cursed. RESPONSE: Lord, help me to find ways to help Your name spread to all the nations so that ALL may know and…

VERSE: Genesis 11:4a–They said, ‘Come let us build for ourselves a city and a tower whose top will reach into heaven and let us make for ourselves a name. TRUTH: What was the sin at the tower of Babel? Pride, the desire to make oneself great and honor oneself above God. Do we desire to make ourselves seem great, or to glorify God? RESPONSE: Lord, help me to always seek Your glory over anything else that I do.

VERSE: Genesis 10:5–From these the coastlands of the nations were separated into their lands, everyone according to his language, according to their families, into their nations. TRUTH: It has always seemed natural for us to divide into groups of people that are similar to ourselves. We must be careful to not overlook the greatest similarity: God’s love for us and our need for salvation through Jesus Christ. RESPONSE: Lord, help me see people through Your eyes and know the love You have for everyone so that I might share it with them.

VERSE: Genesis 9:13–I set My bow in the clouds and it shall be for a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth. TRUTH: The Lord keeps His promises and He wants us to remember that He can be trusted to remember what He promised. He set a reminder in the sky that He follows through and is worthy of our trust. RESPONSE: Lord, thank You for keeping Your promises both to the earth and to me. You are trustworthy and know all that I need.
