At the Right Moment, Day 2

Commitment to relationships. Read Esther chapter 2.

Esther has been chosen as one of the women to be prepared and then brought before the king as a possible next Queen. She has gone to the palace and is going through all the treatments and regimens prescribed for someone who would come into the presence of the king. Even with this separation, Mordecai continues to be committed to her. He is her cousin. He has raised her and she is like a daughter to him.

Mordecai comes every single day to the palace to check on her well-being. She is there for over a year in preparation and still Mordecai comes every single day. Even after she is selected as the next Queen, Mordecai still comes to the palace to check on her every single day. And that is why he was in the right place at the right time to overhear the potential plot to assassinate the king. He took action. The plot was stopped and he was credited as the one who saved the king.

If he had wavered in his commitment to Esther, he would not have been where he needed to be. If he had stopped coming, he would not have been where he needed to be. We may not understand why we are where we are. We may not even understand the process that God has us going through, but we are to be committed to the relationships that God has in our lives.

Are we reaching out to the people that we need to reach out to? Do we follow through with the things that we say we’re going to do for other people? That is how we end up being in the right place at the right time to fulfill God’s purpose. What commitment do you need to continue in order to remain strong today? What relationship do you need to reach out to? You never know when God wants to use you in the right place at the right time.
