The Voice of the Prophet, Day 45

When was the last time the paint told the artist what to create? Read Isaiah chapter 45.
As Isaiah speaks in this chapter about God’s judgment, an interesting and unusual scenario is brought up. Does the clay ever tell the potter what it wants to be and what the potter should make from it? The answer is no, and it seems to be a ridiculous question. The creator is the one who makes the decision as to what the clay is going to become. The painter is the one who makes the decision as to what they’re going to draw and create with their paints or their pencils.
It would seem absolutely ludicrous to us for an artist to tell us that he can’t create anything until the paint tells him what he wants to be. In the same way, God is reminding us that he has a purpose as a plan for us. He is our creator it is just as equally ridiculous for us to try to go against what God’s will is for us. His purpose in our life is something that he sets, and while a potter may tell us that certain lumps of clay are easier to work with than others. Ultimately, the potter bends the clay to his will and creates what he intended to create.
Are we making ourselves into moldable clay for our creator to move, to work, and to create something amazing and beautiful from our lives? He is the creator and he has the right to mold us into whatever he desires us to be. Are we allowing our lives to be moldable by God?
