The Voice of the Prophet, Day 48

The great God, made himself personal. Read Isaiah chapter 48.

Today, in many countries around the world, we celebrate Christmas. This date for believers is important because it celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. However, it’s important to understand that this was not the beginning of Jesus Christ. Jesus is God as as a result, he has always been. What we truly celebrate at Christmas is that the amazing, incredible, universally great God inserted himself into humanity. He came and became one of us.

It is such an amazing truth to realize that this God that we read about in Isaiah, who has laid the foundations of the Earth and spread out the heavens, this awesome and incredible God chose to create a way for us as humans to have a relationship with him. That way is through Jesus Christ. God became human. Trying to imagine that amount of incredible, awesome power packaged into a small baby born in Bethlehem is something that is truly too big for my mind to understand. But God did it.

God chose to use this as a way for us to come to know him. Are we celebrating Christmas for the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made to come to Earth? God is an incredible and amazing God, and we celebrate Christmas because that incredible amazing God came and chose to live on earth. Jesus provided the perfect life that could be a sacrifice on our behalf. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and pray that you have the opportunity to spend the day in reflection of just how incredible a gift God really gave us.
