The Voice of the Prophet, Day 47

They’re on fire… but not in a good way. Read Isaiah chapter 47.

Oh, yeah, there are some folks that are on fire. But unlike the common use of the phrase today, this is not a good thing. As you read Isaiah chapter 47, we see that all of the people that have been trusting in something besides God, all those other things are being burned up. They are not going to stand and they won’t last. All the astrologers, and sorcerers, and other fakes that people have been putting their trust in are ultimately going to turn to nothing.

God is reminding people that he is the holy and powerful one. He will judge everything, including all of those people who have been acting like they are gods. They will be burned up and there will be no saving them.

What are we trusting in? Are we allowing God to share his message with us, or are we seeking glory and help from others? Holy God is worthy of the glory and we are to give him all of the praise. Everything else is just going to be burned up.
