Observations from the Doctor, Day 29

Are we being a witness? Read Luke 24:13-53.
As we read these verses, Jesus has been raised from the dead, but his disciples have yet to believe or to really understand it. Jesus appears to them. Jesus performs miracles in their sight. Then, they see and believe. As this book comes to a close, we see the incredible witness that they have. This book ends setting the stage for what will be the tremendous explosion of the gospel. These men lived with Jesus, traveled with Jesus, and walked with Jesus for years.
Now the disciples were moving from the place where they were simply observing everything Jesus had done to where they were witnessing and testifying to others of what Jesus had done. They could no longer sit on the sideline and be passive observers. Now, it was their responsibility to go and to tell. Luke was not one of the original disciples, but he learned of Jesus because of the witness of these original disciples. Luke goes back and sees and studies and wants to understand everything about the life of Jesus, but it couldn’t only ever be just about what he learned. Luke was a direct product of the witness of the disciples. They had to share what God had done for them. They had to tell others.
Are we still sitting around, passively observing what God is doing in our life, or are we actively seeking to be a witness and to share God’s message with others? Learn from Luke’s observations and become a witness of what God has done in your own life.
