Hope, Day 1

Hope. Read 1 Peter 1:1-9

Talking with believers of other religions is very interesting. Often, I hear them discuss their uncertainty around whether or not they have done enough in order to win the favor of their god. I’ve heard them discuss how they “hope” to receive the reward that they have been promised, but that they really can’t know for sure.

How different this is from a relationship with Christ. Jesus Christ was raised from the dead. That is the source of our hope. Through the years, many people have attempted to disprove Christianity and it all comes down to the resurrection. If Jesus wasn’t raised from the dead then we don’t have anything to hope in. Our hope becomes nothing more than wishful thinking. However, time and time again, people have not only failed to disprove the resurrection, but have often ended up believers in Christ themselves instead.

We have our hope in Christ and in all that he has done and is doing. We know that our faith shields us and gives us reason to greatly rejoice. We can have hope that is based on the truth of who Christ is. We don’t have to worry about the “what if” scenario because we can rest assured that Jesus is who he says he is and because of His resurrection, we have hope.
