Change of Plans, Day 3

Forgiveness. Read Hosea chapter 3.

Over the years, I’ve spoken with many people who have been hurt by someone else. There are several people who talk about the fact that they want to hang on to that hurt and anger forever. They never want to forgive that person. They never believe that that person should have the opportunity to experience forgiveness.

Often, when we have plans of revenge and vengeance, God changes those plans. God is a God of holiness and justice. But, God is also a God of mercy and forgiveness. Here we see God instructing Hosea to go, find his wayward wife. Hoses is to set aside the anger, the betrayal, and the frustration that he must surely have felt. He is to go back and show his wife that he loves her.

We see this incredible picture of how God loves us, even when we stray and even when we fall away. God is still seeking to bring us back. God continues to love us. Are we loving others, even when that’s not our plan? We need to change our plans to align with God’s grace and mercy, today.
