Change of Plans, Day 2

Sometimes God blocks our plans. Read Hosea chapter 8.

You know that moment when you feel like everything has gone sideways. The idea that you had in your plans, that seems like you hit a dead end or an obstacle every direction that you turn. There can be a lot of reasons that’s the case, but sometimes it’s because those plans are not from God and God is blocking our path.

As we read through Hosea chapter 2, we see that Hosea’s wife has gone off to be with other men and God is reminding the people that they have done the exact same thing toward him. They have left him and have gone off to be with other gods. As a result, God starts putting obstacles in their path and in their way so that they are not able to run off into disaster as quickly and easily as they had wanted to.

We have to evaluate the obstacles that we are facing. Is the path that we are on and the plan that we’re following truly the plan that God has given us, or are we off on our own? If we are off on our own and experiencing obstacles, it’s entirely possible that God is trying to get our attention to put us back on the right track.

Yes, God may be trying to change our plans, but it’s entirely possible that it’s because those plans need changing in the first place. If our plans are not God’s plans for our lives, then ultimately we will experience a change of plans. Are we recognizing when God is trying to get our attention and get us back on the right path?
