ADHD Gospel, Day 53

Betrayal. Read Mark 14:12-26.

For most people, the idea of being betrayed will create feeling of anger and mistrust. The idea of betrayal is connected deeply to our sense of importance in trust and loyalty. A betrayal can be one of the most impactful ways that one person can injure another because it implies that there was trust to begin with and that trust was misplaced and trampled.

Jesus knew he was going to be betrayed. Jesus knew who was going to betray him. Still, Jesus chose him to join his disciples. He treated him the same. He cared for him and included him. Jesus gives us an example of how important it is how we treat people. We are still to love people and to trust people, even knowing that they could possibly betray us.

Will we continue to love and trust people? Do we know how to show that love and compassion and trust, even when we are betrayed? Only Jesus can demonstrate that in and through us. Are we seeking God to live through us? He know what the future holds and he will still love people through us despite knowing that those people may ultimately betray us. In Jesus, we can demonstrate His love.
