VERSE:
Daniel 3:16–Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter.”
TRUTH:
This is an interesting statement to make when facing certain death. The three men had refused to bow down and worship the king and they knew that the punishment for that was death, yet when confronted by the King, they didn’t give a huge long defense for why they were not obeying the King’s command. They go on in the next few verses to explain that God is more than capable of defending them and saving them if He wants, but that regardless, they have committed themselves to follow God and they will bow to no one else. How committed are we to following God? Do we trust Him so much that we would not make any other defense other than to share our commitment to Him?
RESPONSE:
Father, thank You for You love and Your defense of me. I will trust You completely and follow You wholeheartedly knowing that You are capable of defending me in every situation. I pray that You will continue to stand up for me in every situation we face. Thank You for loving me and caring for me!
