Corinthians, Day 12

The gifts of the Holy Spirit are topics of great debate among believers. Read 1 Corinthians 12.

The Holy Spirit is given to each one of us who have believed in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. As a result of that, the Holy Spirit can be seen working through our lives in different ways for each person. The way He works and moves can be different from person to person.

Throughout the years there has been much debate among believers as to who has what gift of the Holy Spirit. However, sometimes we miss the bigger picture and the more crucial point which is why are we given gifts the Holy Spirit in the first place. The Holy Spirit works and moves in our lives to bring glory to God. The Holy Spirit desires to point people toward Christ and so our gifts are given so that we may use them in a way that glorifies God and points people to Jesus Christ. They are to be for the common good. Anything that we do or use or claim to be part the Holy Spirit, but yet isn’t being used for the common good or to point people to Christ is being used incorrectly and is not part of the Holy Spirit.

Don’t misunderstand God’s focus and purpose for the Holy Spirit in our lives. God gives us the Holy Spirit so that we may use it for the common good of all and so that we may point people toward Jesus Christ.
