VERSE: Habakkuk 2:4–Behold, as for the proud one, His soul is not right within him but the righteous will live by his faith. TRUTH: Are we proud or are we righteous? Perhaps a better way to phrase the question would be to ask: are we trusting in our own works and abilities or do we place our faith and trust in God and follow His righteous acts? VERSE: Habakkuk 1:5–“Look among the nations! Observe! Be astonished! Wonder! Because I am doing something in your days you would not believe if you were told.” TRUTH: The Lord is speaking to the prophet Habakkuk and indicates that He is moving, but not in the way people would expect. How often that is true today. We do not see what God is dong for two reasons. First, we’re not looking for Him. Second, if we do look, we’re looking in the wrong place. VERSE: Nahum 3:19–There is no relief for your breakdown, your wound is incurable, all who hear about you will clap their hands over you, for on whom has not your evil passed continually.TRUTH: Nahum finishes his prophecies talking about the evil empire of Assyria. The Assyrians were in power and were taking over everything. They were cruel and brutal and, most importantly, disobedient to God. The people were reminded that God would judge and evil will have to be answered for. We can take hope in the fact that God is in control and that the evil will have to be accounted for. VERSE: Nahum 2:2–For the Lord will restore the splendor of Jacob like the splendor of Israel, even though devastators have devastated them and destroyed their vine branches. TRUTH: Even in the midst of the devastations that the people of Jacob had experienced, God promised them restoration. Not just any restoration, but a return to splendor. It’s a promise to renew. VERSE: Nahum 1:7–The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble, and He knows those who take refuge in Him. TRUTH: Three things we learn about God in this passage. First, He is good. Regardless of what happens, we can rest knowing that God is good. Second, He is a stronghold, a fortress that can withstand any trouble or difficulty that we go through. Finally, when we take refuge in Him, He doesn’t just protect us, He knows us. He knows our thoughts, our desires, our innermost being. VERSE: Micah 7:8–Do not rejoice over me, O my enemy. Though I fall I will rise; though I dwell in darkness, the Lord is a light for me. TRUTH: We are all going to go through tough times. Occasionally, our enemies will make the mistake of laughing at us while we are down. Our God will be victorious and through Him, we will be too. No matter what our enemies say to us while we are down, the truth is that God is a light for us and through Him we will rise. VERSE: Micah 5:9–Your hand will be lifted up against your adversaries, and all your enemies will be cast off.TRUTH: God will be victorious in the end and in that day, we will see God’s victory over His enemies. Do we live today in the knowledge and confidence that God is over all and will be victorious? Do we live out the truth even when we don’t see it yet? RESPONSE: Father, we love You and praise You for Your writing. I will live today knowing that You are over all and will one day destroy evil completely.

VERSE: Micah 4:6–“In that day,” declares the Lord, “I will assemble the lame and gather the outcasts, even those whom I have afflicted.” TRUTH: God sees and knows what we are going through. Often, while I’m not physically lame or outcast, I feel emotionally or spiritually lame and outcast. God still sees me and cares for me. In His time He will gather all of us lame and outcast people together and bring us into His glory. O what a wonderful day! RESPONSE: Lord, thank You for Your grace and mercy to save and care for a lame outcast like me. You are amazing and I love You so much.
