What Makes A Good Leader? Day 1

Choose Good Leaders. Read Titus 1:1-5.
If you walk through the leadership section of any bookstore, you will see shelf after shelf of books detailing the qualities and characteristics of what makes a good leader. There are books that describe leadership, books that explain what leadership does and how they act. There are books that teach how to become a good leader. We have no shortage of “how-to” book on this subject.
And yet, we seem to constantly be lacking good leaders. You just have to look at the workplace to see multiple people upset and complaining about their leaders. So, even with all the information we have, we’re still missing on experiencing good leaders.
Paul had a dilemma. He had heard reports that there was trouble at the churches in the island of Crete. Paul himself was busy preaching where he was, so he send a letter to Titus in Crete to give him direction and authority to address the leadership issues and concerns in the church there. Here in this verse, we see Paul telling Titus to finish the work that Paul started and to choose good leaders to continue the work that was going on there on the island.
Do we make choosing good leaders a priority? Do we understand what makes a good leader and are we instilling those traits in others so that they can become good leaders? Through this series, we will understand what makes a good leader and how we can select good leaders for the opportunities we have. We will also understand how we can become a good leader ourselves, through following the example that Christ set for us.
