Observations from the Doctor, Day 12

Your actions matter. Read Luke 10.

A couple of days ago, we focused on the importance of hearing the word of God. Then we saw the importance of faith and trusting God to be who he says he is. Today, as we read through Luke chapter 10, we see multiple stories that are focused on what people now are willing to go and do. You see, as Luke was studying and seeking to understand Jesus’s life, he recognized that Jesus was very focused on making sure people go and do the things that he has told them to do.

In this chapter, we see people being sent out to go preach the gospel. We see stories about what people should do and how people should act in certain circumstances. We see things about what Jesus himself is doing. What we do is a reflection of what we believe. Jesus wanted to ensure that our actions are in line with what we say we believe. Today’s key verse is taken from a section where a man came to question Jesus about what he needed to do to have eternal life. After Jesus asks him what he’s been taught, and the man reminds him of the commandments, Jesus tells him that he is to go and do these things.

Going and doing is rare. We really have to trust God because that is where our faith gets put into practice. If we hear and understand the Lord, and we have faith that he is who he says he is, then our actions should be doing what God has told us to do. Are our actions in line with all that God has shared with us?
