Observations from the Doctor, Day 23

What does it mean to be worthy of worship? Read Luke chapter 19.

I grew up singing an old hymn called “Worthy of Worship.” It was a really neat song that talked about the incredibleness of God and how he was worthy of our praise and worship. The lyrics are: “Worthy of worship, worthy of praise. Worthy of honor and glory. Worthy of all the glad songs we can sing. Worthy of all the offerings we bring. You are worthy, Father, Creator. You are worthy, Savior, Sustainer. You are worthy, worthy and wonderful. Worthy of worship and praise.”

This incredible song is exactly what God is talking about in today’s verse. Here we see Jesus entering into Jerusalem triumphantly. This is what we celebrate on Palm Sunday. We’re reminded that he is worthy in every sense of the word. He is so worthy, in fact, that if the people had not been praising, all creation and the rocks would have had to call out the praise.

Are we giving God the honor and the glory and the praise that he is due? He is worthy and we owe him that level of praise. What does that look like in our lives today? Do we praise him for the good in our lives? Do we praise him for the difficulties? Are we thanking him for every circumstance of our life? Sing a song of praise to the Lord today because he is worthy.
