Observations from the Doctor, Day 5

Who is Jesus? Read Luke chapter 4.

Now that Luke has built out and explained the background of Jesus, he jumps straight to the most important question, Who is Jesus? As we read through this chapter, we see a number of people who face Jesus. Satan starts by tempting Jesus. He knew exactly who Jesus was and he was trying, unsuccessfully, to trip him up. Then we see Jesus preaching to the people. They don’t understand who he is and they end up trying to throw Jesus off a cliff. Finally, we see Jesus moving through the crowds and healing people and casting out demons. The demons know exactly who Jesus is and they are shouting that out and obeying Him.

Through this whole chapter, the ones who didn’t understand Jesus was the people. They missed it. They didn’t understand and they rejected Him. The world around us knows exactly who Jesus is. Satan and the demons still know exactly who Jesus is, even though they refuse to worship Him. Jesus is the Son of God. He is Holy. He is perfect! He is the Lord over everything. Are we like the people today who are near Jesus, but reject Him and all that He is. Or, do we believe and accept Him. Don’t be the only ones who miss out on who Jesus is!
