Praising the Word, Day 1

A Love Letter to the Word of God. Read Psalm 119:1-8.
This series is going to walk through the entire chapter of Psalm 119. This chapter has the distinction of being the longest chapter in the Bible. With it’s 176 verses, it is a sophisticated piece of poetry. In the original language, Hebrew, it is written as an alphabetic acrostic. Each eight verses start with a letter from the Hebrew alphabet. Eight verses each letter, 22 letters in total leads to 176 verses. This entire chapter is all about praising the Word of God.
As we go through each letter grouping, today’s section of verses all start with the Hebrew letter “Aleph,” which is the first letter of the alphabet. As we read these verses, we see just how important it is to seek and follow the law of the Lord. The Lord promises that person will be blessed. The law of the Lord and his statutes are so important. As Christians, we are to love the Word of God as it tells us about God Himself. We learn about God and we learn what we need to be doing ourselves. However, we can’t love God’s Word, or do God’s Word, if we don’t spend time reading it and knowing what it says.
Do we spend time in the Word of God and do we love it? Are we walking according to all that it says and seeking Him with all our hearts? As we do that, we will be blessed.
