Read Genesis chapter 20

VERSE:

Genesis 20:6–Then God said to him in the dream, “Yes, I know you did this with a clear conscience, and so I have kept you from sinning against me.”

TRUTH:

Abimelek, the king of this area, was a godless man. Abraham says so later in this chapter, yet here we have this godless man being addressed by God Almighty. More than that, God explains to Abimelek that He has kept Abimelek from sinning in this particular case. How can we think that God doesn’t care about those who don’t follow Him. God cares about all people and He desires to see all people come to repentance and faith in Him. God saw this godless man and he worked to make sure that He would have an opportunity to know and understand all that God is and all that He has for him. Abraham was wrong to lie to Abimelek and that would taint his witness to Abimelek, but God still used this as an opportunity to share with Abimelek all that God is.

RESPONSE:

Father, I am so glad that You care for all people and desire to see all people come to know You. Help me to have that thought about all the people in the world, whether they identifying themselves as Muslims, Hindus, Atheists, Mormons, or whatever. I know that You love them and that You will have Your way of reaching them. Help me to be part of that and use me to be a positive witness to them.
