Christian Devotional – July 1, 2016

Read Zephaniah chapter 1

VERSE:

Zephaniah 1:2–“I will sweep away everything from the face of the earth,” declares the Lord.

TRUTH:

As we turn to another book of prophecy, we see very quickly the totality of the power of God. He starts out by declaring that he is going to be bringing judgment on the entire earth. What I find so amazing here is that He is able to do that. We see the overwhelming power of the God of the universe. He’s not just some being that we worship that is “out there” somewhere. He is here and involved and knows what is going on in the world. Plus, He is able to work and move in such a way that He impacts it for His glory. Do we give God credit for all that He can do and all that He wants to do in our lives? He is the Lord of everything and He has the power to move and work as He sees fit.

RESPONSE:

Father, I know that You are powerful and I love being reminded that there is nothing that You can’t handle. You see all the things around You and You know the injustices that evil has done and You are going to sweep them all away. Thank You for Your mercy and for giving mercy to all those who will follow and believe in You. I love You and will serve You alone.
