Why I Believe in Christ, Day 14

Christ is over everything. Read Romans chapter 14.

Paul uses this chapter to address some of the controversies in the church in that day. Paul wants people to understand that it’s not as much about the specific actions that they are taking, but it’s more about faith they have in God. Their relationship with Christ is not based on their actions, so, whether they are doing one thing or not doing another thing, isn’t going to impact whether or not they are a believer in Christ.

Now we need to understand that there are similar situations today. Among various denominations of the church, some people believe one way about the certain practices and some people believe a different way. The big thing to remember is that it really comes down to what people believe about their relationship with Jesus Christ. Who is Jesus Christ to them? That is the determining factor.

We should not get so angry with one another about other smaller things. Instead, we should be encouraging each other in our faith in Christ. God will reveal what he wants to reveal to various people about some of these smaller secondary issues. But the main thing is to make sure that we are following Jesus Christ, have a relationship with him, and that we are seeking truth in the Bible in everything that we do.

Paul wanted people to understand that it didn’t matter whether they were living or dead. God is still God. Christ is still Christ. We are still to be following him. Are we demonstrating to others a life that is following the Biblical Jesus Christ, no matter what I know what we are doing?
