Christian Devotional – June 22, 2019

Obedience. Elijah’s entire life was about obedience to the Lord. Here he followed through on the command that the Lord had given him that we saw yesterday. Read 1 Kings 17:5.

So he went and did according to the word of the Lord , for he went and lived by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan.

If someone were recording the story of our life, how often would there be verses like this one? Do others see us as people of obedience to the commands that the Lord has given us? Elijah was given a specific command and he understood that command was designed to better, and in fact, save his life. God gives us commands every day that are designed to better and in a lot of cases, even save our life. Do we pay attention to them? Would there be a verse like this after we’ve received a command where it indicates that we obeyed what God told us to do?
