Read Habakkuk chapter 1

VERSE:

Habakkuk 1:3–Why do you make me look at injustice? Why do you tolerate wrongdoing? Destruction and violence are before me; there is strife, and conflict abounds.

TRUTH:

Habakkuk is sharing his frustrations with the Lord. Everywhere he looks, Habakkuk sees evil and strife and injustice. He doesn’t understand why that is or what the Lord is doing, so he asks the Lord. God is big enough for our questions and for our frustrations. He knows the things that we see and dislike. Habakkuk brought his frustrations to the Lord and as a result, later in the chapter, he g answers. Granted, these were probably not the answers that he was looking for, but they were answers none the less. Do we take our frustrations and anger to God, or do we spend our time telling everyone else about them? Only God has the true answers and we must spend our time asking the One who knows the answers.

RESPONSE:

Father, I know that You are able to do so many things and often, I don’t understand or have it make sense. I will pray that You are the One who is glorified above all things. I thank You for all that You are doing in and through.me, even when I don’t like Your plan. I will follow You no matter where it leads because I trust You.
