Leading Through Challenging Circumstances, Day 14

How quickly we forget. Read Daniel 3:1-3.

How good of a memory do we have? How long do we remember the things that God has done for us? I don’t know how much time has passed between chapter 2 and chapter 3, but we ended chapter 2 with the king bowing down and worshipping the one true God. Then, we move forward in chapter 3 with the king building a giant idol of himself and asking people to worship him.

When God has done something amazing and revealed himself in a tremendous way, how long does that stay with us? I’ve certainly been impacted by a challenging message on a Sunday morning and felt need to make changes and commitments, but then by later that afternoon, I’ve forgotten and moved on to the “next” thing that has come up.

God is an amazing and holy God. When we are impacted by God, we need to take action on that impact to ensure that we remember and respond to all that God is doing. We don’t want to lose sight of all that God is doing. We also don’t want to fall back to our old ways.

When we think of leading through challenging circumstances, we recognize that repeating and falling back to the same things isn’t going to get us very far. We need to make sure that we are taking the lessons that God brings us through and write them on our heart. That way we can continue to work and move in a way that pleases God instead of falling back into our old habits and routines.
