VERSE:
Joshua 15:63–Judah could not dislodge the Jebusites, who were living in Jerusalem; to this day the Jebusites live there with the people of Judah.
TRUTH:
The command was to go in and to completely take the land. However, the Israelites fell short on this command in several areas. Whether they got tired of fighting and got lazy or whether they simply stopped trusting in God to give them the victory, we don’t know, but they didn’t completely fulfill all that God had for them. Do we do that in our lives? Do we get an idea from God of where we are to be and what we are to be doing, but then it takes longer that we expected or it’s harder than we thought it would be. We get discouraged or frustrated and we start taking short-cuts. God desires to give us the fullness of all that He has promised, but there’s no easy and quick way to accomplish that. We must be willing to do all that He has for us all the way through to completion.
RESPONSE:
Father, Give me endurance to keep on even when I don’t feel like or even when I’m discouraged or frustrated or bored. Keep me focused ultimately on You and on all that You have done for me so that You are the One who is glorified in everything.
