Christian Devotional – March 23, 2014

Read Deuteronomy chapter 8

VERSE:

Deuteronomy 8:3–He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live by bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.

TRUTH:

Moses is reminding the people of a time when God allowed them to go through a time of difficulty. They had no food. Then, in the midst of their problem, God provided the solution in a way that they had never seen or heard before. Why did God do this? God had a lesson to teach them and it’s a lesson that we can still learn today. We do not live on just food or nutrition. We do not live based on anything else in this world. We live based on the word of God. We are to live and breathe every single word of God knowing that is the only thing that brings us through. We can complain about the other situations that we are going through, but ultimately, God is over every single area in this world and He is in control. We can trust in Him.

RESPONSE:

Father, You are over everything. I do not always enjoy the times when you allow me to be humbled, but I will trust You to provide the solution and an opportunity to learn more about You. I will seek Your word and desire that more than anything else in this world.
