Judgment and Restoration, Day 3

Don’t do things just because it’s in your power to do. Read Micah 2:1-5.

As we start reading chapter two, we see a lot of people falling in the category of being an oppressor. They were taking advantage of others. They were pushing people down and really lording over them in a way that was not pleasing to God at all.

God wanted the people to understand that he sees that, and that is not going to be tolerated. That is part of the sin that has been called out and is so different from the holiness of God.

Interestingly, in verse one, he makes the statement that the people do these things because it is in their power to do them. There are a lot of things that we have the ability and freedom to do, but that does not mean that those are things that we should be doing. We need to be very mindful of the fact that God is to direct our every move and step. Just because we are able to do some things does not give us the freedom to do them. We still need to be following Christ.
