Christian Devotional – October 31, 2016

Read 1 Timothy chapter 6

VERSE:

1 Timothy 6:11–But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.

TRUTH:

Are we fleeing from “all this” that is listed in the verses that precede this verse? There are several traps that people tend to fall into including materialism and pride. Are we pursuing righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness? Perhaps a better question is whether we would know or recognize those things when we saw them. If we are truly looking to follow God, we will see these and we will be able to pursue them. If we are not seeing the righteous or the Godly things as we go throughout the day, then we need to be certain that we are fleeing from the sinful things in the world.

RESPONSE:

Father, I need to flee. I need to flee from the materialism and the pride that so easily entices. God I need You. I don’t want those things I only want to run after You. Help me to see the righteous things in my path each day and to make the choice to pursue them.
