VERSE:
2 Kings 22:19–Because your heart was responsive and you humbled yourself before the Lord when you heard what I have spoken against this place and its people–that they would become a curse and be laid waste–and because you tore your robes and wept in my presence, I also have heard you, declares the Lord.
TRUTH:
How do we respond to God? The way we respond to God will determine, in some ways, the manner in which God responds to us. In this case, Josiah was humbled and he desired to seek after and to follow God. When he heard all the evil things that they had done and how God was angry and against them, he immediately reacted and sought to repent and to beg forgiveness. God saw his heart and he responded by delaying his judgment on the people of Israel. When we are confronted by our sins, do we acknowledge them, humble ourselves, and respond to God? Or, do we seek to justify ourselves instead?
RESPONSE:
Father, I pray that You will continue to show me where I mess up and help me to repent and humble myself before You. I desire that You will be the One who is glorified in and through me. Thank You for all that You have done and continue to do in me.
