Read Nahum chapter 2 VERSE: Nahum 2:2–The Lord will restore the splendor of Jacob like the splendor of Israel, though destroyers have laid them waste and have ruined their vines. TRUTH: As Nahum continues to prophecy, we see that God plans to restore Jacob. The interesting thought about this is that Jacob had to have been laid waste and gone through trials in order to be restored. You can’t restore something that is already in perfect working order. For a multitude of reasons, Jacob had lost it’s splendor and the nation of people had turned away from God. Even in the dark times when it doesn’t seem that there’s a…

Read Amos chapter 9 VERSE: Amos 9:15–“I will plant Israel in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them,” says the Lord your God. TRUTH: Even with all the words of destruction and judgment, God ends the book with the reminder that He will have His hand on His people. He has not forgotten them and He will continue in His promise to bring them to their own land and restored them. As we are following God and make the commitment to have God first in every area of our life, we will see that God will restore us and set us apart…

Read Zechariah chapter 9 VERSE: Zechariah 9:12–Return to the stronghold, O prisoners who have hope; this very day I am declaring that I will restore double to you. TRUTH: Hope is such a powerful word, especially for those who have been a prisoner. For these people, knowing that God was giving them hope and that they would be able to return to their place of strength was such a refreshing thought. No matter what sin has kept us imprisoned or what problem we have felt powerless to overcome. God gives us hope and he gives us restoration. He will keep His promise to us and will restore those of us…

Read Zechariah chapter 1 VERSE: Zechariah 1:16–Therefore this is what the Lord says, ‘I will return to Jerusalem with mercy, and there my house will be rebuilt. And the measuring line will be stretched out over Jerusalem.’ declares the Lord Almighty. TRUTH: With repentance comes returning and rebuilding. As the people came and repented to God, the Lord promised to return to them and to rebuild. We are never so far gone that Jesus can’t bring us back and return us, rebuild us, and restore us. As I look at my life, I see so many areas where I need God to move in power and bring restoration. Will we…

Read Luke chapter 22 VERSE: Luke 22:32–“But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” TRUTH: No one likes hearing that they are going to mess up, and I’m sure that Peter was no exception. However, Jesus made three important statements here. The first, Jesus had prayed for Peter. We can know that no matter what is going on or what we are facing in our lives, Jesus has prayed for us and we are not alone. Second, there is an opportunity for repentance. Jesus mentioned that when Peter turns back. Peter will have an opportunity to…

Read 2 Samuel chapter 21 VERSE: 2 Samuel 21:3–David asked the Gibeonites, “What shall I do for you? How shall I make amends so that you will bless the Lord’s inheritance?” TRUTH: Are we willing to step up when we’ve done wrong and attempt to make things right? Are we willing to even ask the question? So often, we want to shy away from people or situations where a wrong has been committed instead of boldly taking the step to restore. What relationship do we need to seek to restore today? Will we be willing to face the situation? RESPONSE: Father, I praise You and I know that through You…

VERSE: Jeremiah 31:18–“I have surely heard Ephraim’s moaning: ‘You disciplined me like an unruly calf, and I have been disciplined. Restore me and I will return, because You are the Lord my God.'” TRUTH: The Lord disciplines us who have been unruly. He does this so that we will recognize that we have done wrong and will seek restoration. God’s desire is to restore us once we fall short of Him. However, we must choose to return. We must accept the discipline that we receive and learn from it. Do we accept God’s discipline and use it to look at our life and the opportunities to confess and be brought…
