Observations from the Doctor, Day 6

Why did Jesus come? Read Luke chapter 5.

Reading through Luke chapter 5, it’s a reminder of how Jesus calls people to follow him. He finds people and meets them where they are and then offers to change them. Following Jesus is allowing God to transform our lives into the life that God desires for us. We have to be willing to leave everything we have and everything we know behind in order to only follow him.

Why did Jesus come? He came because he knew we needed him. We are all sinners and he came to provide salvation. He came to heal the sick. He came to provide hope for the hopeless. He didn’t come for people who thought they already had it altogether. He came for those who know they don’t have it together.

Sometimes people struggle with who God is and the idea of surrendering to follow God. Sometimes, it’s because they feel like they already have life figured out. If you think you have everything figured out, you don’t need someone to help you figure it out. So many times and in so many ways we have to help people understand that they are lost and in need of a Savior before they are willing to even consider Jesus Christ as that savior. Jesus came because we desperately need a savior. Do we recognize our desperation and have we submitted to God today?
