What Makes A Good Leader, Day 5

What should we be teaching? Read Titus 2:11-15.
Yesterday, we discussed how we are to be leaders that are also teachers. Today, Paul goes into more detail on what we should be teaching. We are to teach people to say no to ungodliness and worldly passions. We are to teach people how to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives. We are to teach people the importance of waiting for the hope that we have in Christ. We are to encourage people and rebuke people through the authority that we have in Christ. Ultimately, that’s a lot of teaching that needs to happen!
Sometimes, it can seem daunting to be the teacher. We can feel that we’re not worthy and sometimes even that we’re not always the best example of those items listed above. I know patience and waiting on God isn’t exactly my best skill. Yet, God calls us to still teach people. Sometimes, the best way to teach is to be OK with sharing that we are also struggling in areas. We share the journey and the passion that we have. We want to help people realize that even when we’re not perfect, God can still work and move in our lives.
When we think about teaching people in the church, does this list contain the items that we’re thinking about? Most of these items require a vulnerability and transparency so that people can see into our lives. Are we willing to open up our lives and walk beside people as they are learning more about Christ?
