The Reluctant Follower, Day 7

When do you remember God? Read Johan 2:5-7.

I remember the weirdest things at the oddest times. I can be going through a test or having a conversation with someone and the all of a sudden remember that I need to buy milk. Biologically, our memories are triggered by a wide range of associations. Reading this verse, it struck me that it is important to know when we a remembering God.

To be fair, Jonah probably hadn’t really forgotten God. That would have been impossible to do given how much people had been talking about God to him in the past several hours. But, the idea here is that he remembered God with purpose and was focusing on God. We may know that God is around and that He is Holy, but at what point do we actually change and turn our focus on God? Are we remembering all that God has done for us and all that God wants to do for us? Are we staying focused on Him and turning to Him at every point in our lives?

Jonah waited until he was swallowed by a fish to start focusing on God. What is it going to take for you to remember and focus on God?
