VERSE: Psalm 131:1–O Lord, my heart is not proud, nor my eyes haughty; Nor do I involve myself in great matters, or in things too difficult for me. TRUTH: It can be easy to think we are great and wonderful all on our own. In actuality, we are special because God created us and everything we do that is good is because of His grace. We must give God the praise and glory and be content in His plans. He knows and understands all things, including those things that are too great and difficult. VERSE: Psalm 130:5–I wait for the Lord, my soul does wait, and in His word do I hope. TRUTH: Waiting is so hard! Most of us have figured out how to avoid waiting or to shorten our wait time for things. God doesn’t work that way. We wait for the Lord. He will always move in His own perfect time. But, He doesn’t leave us alone while we wait. Plus, we have His word. We use His word to remind ourselves of the promises of God and place our trust and hope in Him and His timing. VERSE: Psalm 129:2–Many times they have persecuted me from my youth up; Yet they have not prevailed against me. TRUTH: We are rarely ever attacked just once. The enemies will generally attack over and over again looking for us to give up, give in, or stumble and fall. Because of Christ, we can say, like the psalmist, that though we’ve been attacked several times, they have not prevailed against us. Only by resting and relying on Christ can we overcome the many attacks and stay faithful and obedient to Him. Are we relying on Him today? We can be sure the attacks will come. VERSE: Psalm 128:2–When you shall eat of the fruit of your hands, you will be happy and it will be well with you. TRUTH: Productivity. God made us with purpose. God gave us abilities and the opportunities to use those abilities for Him. We will only be truly happy when we are daily doing the things God intended us to be doing. Are we seeking for and actually doing all that God wants us to be doing? RESPONSE: Lord, I want to do the things You have purposed for me. I relish being able to watch You use me and my abilities to accomplish Your work.

VERSE: Psalm 127:1–Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman keeps awake in vain. TRUTH: All our plans, all our works, if they are not led by God, they are pointless and meaningless. It’s not enough to simply ask God to bless the work that we already doing. We must be following along with God’s work in the first place. Are we allowing God to direct and build in our lives, or are we working in vain? TRUTH: The Lord’s timing is perfect, yet often we do not understand it. This verse doesn’t mean that we should go about crying all the time, but it does mean that we will hurt at times. VERSE: Psalm 125:2–As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people from this time forth and forever. TRUTH: God surrounds us with His protection, with His love, and with everything that He is. He will not be shaken and will not be moved. The Lord is over all and in all. He is trustworthy and reliable. Do we place our trust in Him no matter what? RESPONSE: Lord, You are surrounding and protecting me at this very moment. I pray You will help me rely only on You in all circumstances.

VERSE: Psalm 124:7–Our soul has escaped as a bird out of the snare of the trapper; the snare is broken and we have escaped. TRUTH: This entire psalm speaks of the Lord’s deliverance from those who are seeking to destroy us. We have an enemy who seeks our destruction. He will use whatever means he can to try and trap us. But we have a Savior who delivers us, if we will trust in Him. He breaks us free from everything that seeks our destruction. Are we living today knowing we are free from the destroyer. VERSE: Psalm 123:2–Behold, as the eyes of the servant look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the Lord our God, until He is gracious to us. TRUTH: God provides everything for us. We are to trust Him for everything we need. Just like a servant is dependant on their master for everything they have, we are dependant on God for everything we have. We can hold on to Him and trust Him until He supplies our needs as promised.
