VERSE: Psalm 92:4–For You, O Lord, have made me glad by what You have done. I will sing for joy at the works of Your hands. TRUTH: God is amazing and wonderful. He does incredible and awesome things. Even when we do not understand what He is doing or why, we can have joy and share that joy with others. RESPONSE: Lord, I thank You for all the wonderful ways You work in my life. I pray You will help me to share Your joy in all circumstances today.

VERSE: Psalm 91:15–“He will call upon Me and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.” TRUTH: God doesn’t promise us that we won’t have trouble. He does promise that He will be with us in the trouble. He will answer us when we call on Him. He will honor and rescue us. Do we trust Him and call on Him through every situation we encounter, good or bad? RESPONSE: Father, no matter what I face today, You are with me. I will call to You and wait for You as You walk with me through the trouble.

VERSE: Psalm 90:12–So teach us to number our days, that we may present to You a heart of wisdom. TRUTH: Often it can be easy to forget that our time on this earth is numbered. We won’t live forever. Yet God indicates that we are wise to keep that in mind and to “number our days.” Only by maintaining the proper perspective can we truly have a heart of wisdom. RESPONSE: Lord, I know that my time here is limited. Help me to use my time to do and be a part of things that please and honor You, for that is the only wise use of this time.

VERSE: Jude 21–keep yourselves in the love of God waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life. TRUTH: One day God, in His mercy will perfect us in eternal life. What should we be doing while we wait? We are to keep ourselves in God’s love. We are to allow it to be what motivates us, what drives us, what influences us, and what sustains us. Are we keeping ourselves in the love of God as we wait for His fulfillment of eternal life? RESPONSE: Lord, waiting can be difficult for me as I look forward to seeing You face to face. I pray You…

VERSE: Amos 9:15–“I will also plant them on their land, and they will not again be rooted out from their land which I have given them,” says the Lord God. TRUTH: Restoration. One day, God will restore the people to a permanent place of peace. Are we looking forward to our permanent reward of heaven or are we only focused on the temporal things of this life? RESPONSE: Lord, today I want to be mindful of the permanent home You are preparing for me. Help me to not get too attached to these temporal things, knowing there is so much more to come.

VERSE: Amos 8:11–“Behold, days are coming,” declared the Lord God, “When I will send a famine on the land; not a famine for bread or a thirst for water, but rather for hearing the words of the Lord.” TRUTH: If we entered a time of famine of God’s word, would we notice? Do we seek out His word and hunger for it’s truth everyday just like our body craves food? Today, we need to focus on hearing from God and seeking after His word. RESPONSE: Lord, thank You for Your truth from Your word. I pray I will seek out Your truth today and live it out.

VERSE: Amos 7:15–“But the Lord took me from following the flock and the Lord said to me, ‘Go prophesy to My people Israel.'”TRUTH: God sees us where we are, in the midst of what we have been doing, and He calls us to Himself. He can change and remake anyone and use anyone for His purposes. Amos was a shepherd who was just being obedient to the calling of God in his life. What about us? RESPONSE: Lord, You see where I am and You still want to use me. Help me to be obedient to You in everything You ask of me.

VERSE: Amos 6:1–Woe to those who are at ease in Zion and to those who feel secure in the mountain of Samaria, the distingished men of the foremost of nations, to whom th ehouse of Israel comes. TRUTH: Complacency, comfort, apathy: all these words can be used to describe the people Amos was speaking to. Why is this dangerous? Because we become so focused on ourselves and our wants that we fail to notice anyone else, or even give consideration to what God has for us to do. Don’t shy away from the tougher feelings or things that make us uncomfortable. They could be used by God to draw us…

VERSE: Amos 5:4–Seek God and not evil, that you may live; and thus may the Lord God of hosts be with you, just as you have said. TRUTH: It sounds so simple, “Seek good and not evil.” In our relationship with Christ, the way to live is to seek after the only truly good thing there is. What does it mean to seek good? Seek God! RESPONSE: Lord, today help me not be distracted by the things around me, but instead to seek You in everything. For only You are good.

VERSE: Amos 4:13–For behold, He who forms mountains and creates the wind and declares to man what are His thoughts, He who makes dawn into darkness and treads on the high places of the earth, the Lord God of hosts is His name. TRUTH: Sometimes, with all our focus on having a personal relationship with God, we lose sight of exactly who God is in all His power and glory. He is God, the One and only, the creator of all and Lord over all. He is God. And in His power and holiness, He desires to have an intimate, personal relationship with each one of us. RESPONSE: Lord, I treasure…
