What Makes A Good Leader? Day 8

Careful devotion. Read Titus 3:8-10.
Devotion isn’t something that just happens. Being devoted to someone or something is a conscious decision that we make and then choose to keep. I’ve seen people who are devoted to a sports team. It doesn’t matter whether or not the team is performing well or if they are struggling, those fans are going to cheer for their team, no matter what.
Here, Paul is reminding Titus that part of what he is teaching the people is how to be devoted to God. There are going to be times when devotion to God comes easily, but there are also going to be times when that devotion is going to feel challenging and not be a popular choice. If we have trusted in God, we must be careful to show our devotion to others. People should still know that we belong to Christ. Just like those fans who still continue to wear their team’s colors, even when they are losing every match, we are still going to be devoted to Christ, even when following Christ isn’t popular. If we are trusting in Christ, we must continue to be careful to stay devoted to Him and to doing what He has said to do. Are we staying devoted to Him and doing what He has told us to do?
