Begin Again, Day 26

Beginning again every single day. Read Joshua chapter 14.
Reading through Joshua, chapter 14 is one of the reminders that God doesn’t pay any attention to age. God sees our ability and desire to be obedient to Him, and confirms that it doesn’t change as we get older. Caleb was 85 years old now, but he still remembered the promise of God from 45 years earlier. He was ready and willing to go and do what God had promised him all those years ago.
Beginning again, it’s often about a conscious choice each and every day to do the little things that God is requesting of us, so that we will be ready to do the big things when the timing is right. Honestly, big things are simply a combination of lots of little things. If we can’t be obedient in the little things, we will never be obedient in the big things.
Caleb understood this, and he had spent the last 45 years continually doing what he needed to do to stay ready whenever God brought about the opportunity. To fulfill the promise, Caleb didn’t stay in shape for 45 years by doing nothing. In the meantime, what are we doing?
In the meantime, to continue to be ready to do the work that God has for us to do, are we faithfully plodding along day-by-day? Even when we don’t see the goal in front of us, even when all we have is a promise from God. With no real discernible way to see it come about, God continues to be faithful to us. We must be faithful to him through the everyday.
