Begin Again, Day 27

We need others. Read Joshua chapter 15.

We can’t do everything on our own. While there are a lot of things about the Christian life that are individual decisions, we were meant to live the Christian life, most effectively, together with others. We saw yesterday that Caleb was committed to following through on all that God had promised him. And as we start reading chapter 15, we see that he absolutely went and conquered the lands that he had set his sights on, and that God had promised to him.

However, now we see that he is offering his daughter in marriage to someone who would come and take another nearby city. Caleb recognized the importance of doing things together. He knew he could not take control of the entire area by himself, so he was seeking the help of others.

We need to recognize that we are to work together with others. We need to be mindful of how God is bringing people into our life and how they are intended to help us. The Christian life is an individual choice, and if no one else is walking with us, we are to walk the path of Christ alone. However, throughout scripture, we see over and over again that God brings people together and he makes people stronger because of their relationships with each other and their common desire to glorify God.

When we are starting over, while we may feel alone, it’s important to make sure that we are on the lookout for the people God is going to bring into our lives who will help us to fulfill everything that God has promised. Who are the people that God has brought into your life?
