The Voice of the Prophet, Day 37

Holy. Read Isaiah chapter 37.

God is holy and we have to remember that. When we left Judah yesterday, the city of Jerusalem was under attack. They were surrounded and the armies were threatening to come in and to overthrow Judah. Hezekiah, the king of Jerusalem, prays to God.

God sends an answer through the prophet Isaiah. During this time, the enemy army has been bad mouthing God and talking about how weak and powerless God is. We see in our focus verse today that God was not worried about the Assyrian army bad mouthing Jerusalem. But he was not going to stand for them bad mouthing him. They were denying his holiness, and God took that opportunity to demonstrate just how holy and powerful.

God moved to demonstrate his power to the Assyrian army. God killed 187,000 soldiers without any battle by the Jewish people. God killed those people, and then the Assyrians that were left turned around and went home because they had nothing else to say.

God is holy and we are to treat him as holy. We must remember and acknowledge his holiness today!
