Observations from the Doctor, Day 2

Do we recognize God and all that he has done. Read Luke chapter 1.
As we read through Luke chapter one, we see some interesting correlations. There are multiple greetings, and there are multiple responses. The angel Gabriel greets both Zachariah and Mary. Mary comes to greet Elizabeth. Elizabeth’s baby greets Mary. Then, we see Mary’s song of response, followed by Zachariah’s song of response. We also see Elizabeth responding in praise and prophecy.
All of these people we’re greeted in some way by the Lord and by what the Lord was doing. Each person had an opportunity to see how God was working and moving. They all chose to rejoice in all that God was doing in their lives. They didn’t understand why God was doing what he was doing. They didn’t understand what it was going to look like or be like. They certainly didn’t understand that their story would be written about and read for thousands of years to come. They just understood that they had been greeted by the Lord, and that they were to respond.
Every single day, God greets us. Lamentations 3 talks about how God’s mercies are new every morning. We can see God each and every day, from his allowing us to open our eyes, through the sunrise, in the smiles that are around us. Every day God is with us and God greets us.
In this chapter, we see the only response is to praise and worship God. Zachariah praised God for his faithfulness and mercy for him and his wife. Mary praised God for doing incredible and awesome things through her. Elizabeth praised God because of the promise that was being fulfilled and the Savior that was coming.
God has greeted us today, and we can see his mercies new every morning. What response and what praise are we giving back to God today? Be like Mary and sing that the Mighty One has done great things for me and Holy is his name!
