The Voice of the Prophet, Day 56

The House of Prayer. Read Isaiah chapter 56.

Many years ago, I read the book “God Smuggler” by Brother Andrew. This incredibly impactful book of the life of a true servant of God made such an impression on my life. One of the characteristics that really stuck out to me is how he would talk about going into other countries to seek out and find other believers. He mentioned he would never look for churches; he was always asking for the house of prayer.

What Brother Andrew often found is that “churches” might often be a government organization. But if he would ask for the house of prayer, people would take him to those who were true believers in Jesus Christ because they were the ones that pray. People know who the effective prayers are, and that is how Brother Andrew would identify groupings of believers in other countries.

Where is our house of prayer? God promises that His house will be a house of prayer. Jesus goes so far as to upend tables and kick people out of the church in the New Testament when they were not making his house a house of prayer. If someone were to come to you today and ask where the house of of prayer is, where would you lead them? Are you representative of a house of prayer? Make your house a house of prayer today.
