The Messenger, Day 6

What’s the difference? Read Malachi 3:6-18

What makes the difference between a righteous man and a wicked man? This has been a question that has been debated for centuries and every major religion has added to the definitions. Ultimately, we see Malachi discussing the difference in these verses. The righteous person respects God and understands his position in relation to a Holy God. The wicked person has a much higher opinion of themselves then they do of God.

As a result, we read here that the people weren’t giving of their offerings to God. They weren’t submitting to God’s authority. They were trying to outdo each other. However, we see that the Lord knows and hears the people who submit to him in reverence. The Lord knows the difference between the wicked and the good. The Lord also knows that we will also see the difference and the distinction between the wicked and the good. We need to examine our own lives and ensure that we are seeing God for who he truly is and then acting in a way that will demonstrate that knowledge.
